The Laptop Sleeve

Happy Monday Handbag Lovers and happy Martin Luther King Day!! A time to remember Dr. King and so many others, for all they achieved, stood for, and sacrificed!
It is another #OnMondaysWeBagBlog and today I am bringing you The Laptop Sleeve (or case), whichever you prefer. 😉 For those who follow me on social media (which all of y'all should be 😆) you know I made only one Christmas present for 2023. Making Christmas presents is one of my favorite things to do, but it also takes a lot of time. Which, last year, I did not have any extra time. So, I saved my handbag making skills for one special person, my husband! Let's dive into this new piece!
This laptop sleeve, of course, is made from leather. It is a vegetable tanned leather, in a deep blue color, with a bright blue stitching and deep blue edge paint. This is actually the same leather hide I used to make the Unisex Backpack, also for my husband. (See that here: https://www.instagram.com/jchristinehandbags/reel/CoGYKJgg46O/ ). I opted to machine stitch with my Cobra industrial machine, instead of hand stitching. Although, this piece would be beautiful hand stitched, so I may try that in the future.
The inside is lined with a faux suede, sourced from Joann (not affiliated), in black. Faux suede is perfect because it gives you the same look for a lot less! The only drawback is you have to be careful with fraying. To help with that, I used Fray Check, by Dritz. I have used this on a lot of bags and it does wonders.

Finishing off, I used a silver snap button closure and my branding label placed on the back corner. This laptop sleeve is minimal and sleek. The faux suede lining protects the laptop from scratching as well as the leather doing the same. It just gives you some style!
That is it for this piece of #OnMondaysWeBagBlog! I hope you enjoyed! Please feel free to comment on how you enjoyed (or didn’t enjoy 😅) this post or leave any questions you may have!

Love the laptop sleeve and the tips. I want to try to make a purse out of suede and didn’t realize fraying would be an issue. Keep blogging Chica!
