Today we are diving into the the clear mini tote! Now this is actually a bag I started working on early last year! I was going to make 8 of these mini totes, as they were intended for my bridesmaids as gifts. But let's be honest, for those who know what it takes to plan a wedding, you know time is precious and limited! So, I ended up not making 8 of them. Though, I did still want to complete at least one!
This mini tote is made of clear PVC and metallic silver leather handles. The leather I used, this time around, is a goat leather, which I picked up from a popular leather supply store, Tandy Leather.
Initially I was planning to leave this bag, just clear (see through), but at the last minute, I thought it would be cool to add in a removable lining! For this, I used an upholstery fabric, in a teal color, and added button snaps on each side of the tote, which allowed the lining to stay in place and then be removed when not needed. What was great about this upholstery fabric is it already had a lined backing, which made it more durable and able to "stand" nicely inside the tote.
Last, and the best part about this mini tote, is the detail I added to the front. Using my Cricut Maker, I added this phrase, "Bold & Fearless & Resilient & Magical. Women." YES, WE ARE! This was a predesigned phrase in Cricut Design Space, Cricut's software, which I made with permanent vinyl. In the past, I have used iron on vinyl; however, even with proper protection, the heat causes the clear PVC to become blurry. Using the permanent vinyl, this time around, worked perfectly.
So there you have it, the perfect mini tote, expressing everything you are!
